2012 Cultural Capital Fellow

Bonnie began sewing star quilts over 20 years ago. She grew up watching her mother and grandmother at work on their sewing machines.  She became inspired by the beautiful items created by the women. With the help of First Peoples Fund, she is able to pass on what she learned through organizing workshops for community members interested in learning the art of quilting or those that want to advance their skills.

"The Cultural Capital Fellowship has given me the opportunity to offer my talents to the community through sewing classes taught by myself. Where before this was not an event that I would not be financially feasible on my own. I was given the opportunity to reach out with confidence and peace of mind that I had support from First Peoples Fund behind me."
