Wade Patton is enrolled with the Oglala Lakota tribe and was born and raised on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He grew up with an appreciation for art and the culture that surrounded him and always gravitated to everything artistic. He found a niche in drawing, which naturally led him to other art mediums. He is best known for his oil pastels and ledger artwork. Wade received a Bachelors of Fine Art from Black Hills State University and later lived on the East Coast to pursue artistic opportunities.
"Living on the East Coast, I was exposed to many types of art, but my works always ended up of being about home, South Dakota. The beauty, the splendor of the Black Hills and the skies of South Dakota. I started to draw landscapes and clouds. After moving back, I’m excited to part of the thriving Native art scene. I’m reacquainting myself with the land and the ancestry which I come from. This is prevalent in my new work and I’m very excited in looking forward to the future and my art that I will be creating."
