This is our hub for all First Peoples Fund related events aimed at empowering Native artists, culture bearers, and community leaders. From skill-building workshops to art exhibitions, we offer a variety of events to foster growth, encourage dialogue, and inspire change.

The Leather Work Sessions will teach participants to make bags, wallets or belts. The first two sessions will cover design and cutting. Using leather work tools, the following two sessions will then allow participants to learn carving and tooling. Painting and Dyeing will then be demonstrated in the next two sessions. The final sessions will give participants the opportunity to assemble and complete their final leather work project.
Participants will learn Illustration guidelines for strong artwork and learn inking techniques for: texture, line weight, and pressure sensitivity. Participants will gain the fundamentals of Graphic Art (composition, color, form, impact) and learn to write an Artist Statement.

This workshop will provide participants instruction on the creation of beaded and Mixed Media Moccasins. Participants will be provided instruction on the creation of beaded and dentalium earrings. For moccasin making participants will learn the basics of moccasin making, designing moccasins with beads and applique pieces. Lakota design and meanings will be emphasized.

Open for all ages! The Weekly Drum Circle hosted on Wednesdays aims to be a safe-space for anyone wanting to learn or practice singing on and around the drum. Hosted by singer and knowledge bearer Santee Witt, the drum circle welcomes anyone who can make it to the Oglala Lakota Artspace on Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm.
This workshop series will be held every Wednesday and will focus on singing Lakota songs on the drum, wether they be traditional songs, prayer songs, sundae songs, powwow songs, or other styles of singing on a group-drum and or/ hand-drum. The teachings and meanings behind these songs will be discussed. A safe place will be held for all ages of participants to receive the opportunity to learn how to sing.
