Katherine Paul (Black Belt Eagle Scout) is a Swinomish and Iñupiaq musician, composer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work merges raw guitar-driven soundscapes with Indigenous storytelling. Performing as Black Belt Eagle Scout, she has released three acclaimed albums on Saddle Creek Records and toured internationally, bringing songs of identity, resilience, and care to stages from Lincoln Center to Pitchfork Music Festival, as well as community-based DIY spaces. Her music carries the voices of her heritage and Indigiqueer community into the wider indie rock landscape, offering audiences both power and vulnerability. Paul’s practice is rooted in mentorship and representation. She has worked with organizations including Rock ’n’ Roll Camp for Girls and Potlatch Fund, and frequently collaborates with Native creatives such as filmmaker Evan Benally Atwood and musician Mato Wayuhi. Her work has been featured in Jeffrey Gibson’s An Indigenous Present, the FX series Reservation Dogs, and celebrated in art institutions worldwide.
