Arágidi

Mandan, Hidatsa

About

Arágidi is a Mandan / Hidatsa artist, activist, and writer based out of Minneapolis, MN. Known for extravagant visuals that push the boundaries of humanity, arágidi works in the world of metamodernity, creating fine art that isn’t afraid to make fun of itself. Their work examines language and culture, identity, and the sensation of walking between worlds long past and futures uncertain. Their name translates from Hidatsa as “burned by wildfire,” a remembrance of the changing climate and healing power of fire to recreate an ecosystem in need. arágidi’s work has earned them accolades across Minnesota, including a nomination for Makeup Artist of the Year at the Minnesota Queer Arts Awards, teaching positions at the Queermunity Werkshop, a cast spot at Booked Minnesota, and speaking engagements with the ACLU.
