Robert L. Hunter — Blackfeet, Shoshone-Paiute, and Washoe — is a cinematographer based in Los Angeles, California. Born and raised in Montana, Hunter has navigated many cultural intersections, developing a distinctive perspective that informs his lens and fuels his commitment to purpose-driven storytelling. His work is characterized by textured imagery, dynamic compositions, and deliberate camera movement that breathes life, joy, and color into every frame. Most recently, his cinematography was showcased at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where the short documentary TIGER earned the Special Jury Award for Directing. His work has also screened at top-tier festivals including Tribeca and SXSW. Hunter has brought his distinct visual voice to commercial campaigns for global brands such as Ralph Lauren, Nike, Lululemon, Sperry, and FootJoy. He is a graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory with a concentration in Cinematography.
