Deidre Whiteman is a seamstress artist and beader whose creativity was shaped by the teachings of her family. Surrounded by relatives who created with care and intention, she learned by watching, listening, and helping—gaining skills that became a foundation for her own artistic journey. Deidre regularly sews regalia and beads, drawing inspiration from the traditions passed down through generations. As a teacher by trade, she brings storytelling and cultural connections into her work. Her art is influenced by old-time family photos, the natural world, and the everyday beauty found in her surroundings. Deidre is Spirit Lake Dakota, MHA (enrolled) and a descendant of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, and Meskwaki Nations.
