Delina White

Leech Lake Band of Objibwe, Minnesota Chippewa Tribe

About

Delina White is an award-winning artist that learned to create functional art — apparel and accessories such as moccasins, bags, and garments — using the traditional methods and designs reflective of the natural surroundings of the woodlands. Delina's artwork is a reflection of the Anishinaabe / Ojibwe history  and she specializes in creating her own fabrics from her original beadwork designs. Her jewelry is made from birch bark embellished with raw materials such as bones and shells, metal implements made of copper, silver and brass and trade goods such as glass beads, sequins, buttons, coins, and mirrors that first arrived in the Great Lakes area in the 1600’s to 1800’s. Her work mixes traditionally Indigenous materials with contemporary fabrics.
