About

Chris' art reflects the dominant culture’s distorted perceptions of Native peoples while proclaiming that “we are still here!” A graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe and a nationally recognized painter, Chris calls his art “Native American Low Brow.” Chris exhibits in several Native American art shows and markets nationally including the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Indian Fair and Market, and the Eiteljorg.

Chris is inspired by sharing the knowledge of his heritage with others for preservation, to bring awareness and dispel myths.  It is important to Chris to have Native people depicted as they truly were, not perpetuating romanticized ideas. "I want to speak to the truth and heart of who we were, are and shall be...to bring a sense of humanity that is lacking in so many depictions of us."
