Dan Friday is a member of the Lummi Nation and a Seattle-based glass artist. The themes and images of Friday’s work are often drawn from his Coast Salish heritage and are solidified in the world of glass art. Dan has taught at the University of Washington, Evergreen State College, Pilchuck Glass School, and the Haystack Craft Center. He has had residencies at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA; the Burke Museum in Seattle, WA; the Corning Museum in Corning, NY; and the Dream Community in Tai Pei, Taiwan. Friday has been recognized with a variety of awards and fellowships that include a Bill Holm Grant from the Burke Museum, a People’s Choice Award from Bellevue Art Museum, an Artist Trust Fellowship, and a Discovery Fellowship through the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA). He also appeared as a contestant on season 3 of Blown Away, a reality glassblowing competition television series available on Netflix. His artwork is included in many museum and private collections around the world.
