Lisa M. Kennedy is an Anishinaabe interdisciplinary artist from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. She utilizes art to bring awareness to the inherency of cultural revitalization and reclaiming life ways to build healthy relationships, share knowledge, and support those embracing their cultural identity through mixed media which includes beadwork, regalia, and black ash basketry, quillwork, fabric applique, and leatherwork. Lisa is the co-founder of Niishode (Two Hearts) an indigenous art collective that was established in 2014 with her partner Naawikwegiizhig (Adam Avery). She holds a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University (2017), and her career has centered on the delivery of tribal programming that integrates cultural revitalization, teachings, and lifeways to address and support those struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse, and misuse issues, and suicidal ideation.
