Aiyana Jack

Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota

About

Aiyana Jack is an enrolled member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota and a descendant of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Santee Sioux Tribe, and African American ancestry. She is a self-taught quillwork and beadwork artist born in Yankton and raised on the Yankton Sioux Reservation. Aiyana is the founder of Forever Flowering Designs, an art-based business rooted in cultural preservation. Although deeply connected to her culture, quillwork was not passed down in her family. Aiyana taught herself, inspired by her grandfather, who beaded and made her first pair of moccasins and other regalia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in American Indian Studies from Haskell Indian Nations University and an associate degree in Paraprofessional Education. Her work is part of the permanent collection at the Spencer Museum of Art and was featured in their Native Fashion exhibition. She hopes to grow through future museum and community-based work.
