About

Robert King (Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma) is a ceramic artist and physician whose work explores clay as memory, transformation, and inquiry. Using locally sourced materials, he hand-builds minimalist vessels rooted in restraint, balance, and material sensitivity. Blending abstraction, cultural reference, and philosophical depth, his forms emerge as much from land as from intention. King’s practice engages clay as collaborator and witness, exploring relationships between body and land, creation and loss, past and presence. His work has been exhibited at the American Museum of Ceramic Art, NCECA, SWAIA, Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe, Phillips Gallery, Cara Romero Gallery, and is held in the Tia Collection. He is the upcoming Native Artist in Residence at the Denver Art Museum (September 2025) and the founder/curator of Duende Gallery in Galisteo, NM, where he is also active as a mentor and educator committed to sustaining intergenerational knowledge and creative autonomy
